PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
The Cuyahoga Valley Chamber of Commerce is proud to bring to you our exceptional networking opportunities to be your primary go-to choice for business development. Thank you for your membership!
The Chamber has proudly been in expansion mode, we recently added 40 new members! That means new contacts for you and your business. As I like to say, the purpose of attending our events should be to meet, make friends, do business and have fun! If you happened to miss the September luncheon, which by the way was exceptional and very well attended, no worries, simply mark your calendar and make a reservation for the next event.
The signature event of the program year, and by far, the most well attended event is the State of the Region address. Mayors from Brooklyn Heights, Cuyahoga Heights, Independence, Seven Hills, Valley View and Walton Hills will update the business community on the current state of our beloved communities, new business developments and how your income tax dollars are being managed. Please mark your calendars for November 16, 2016 for the event of the year to be held at the Holiday Inn-Rockside Rd.
We are also very excited to bring something new in 2017 ..."Taste of the Valley"! We hope to bring many of our local restaurants and food vendors together for your sampling and tasting pleasure for an early evening function in January as a generous fund-raiser to sponsor our Scholarship Program.
Finally, not to be overlooked, we were very pleased with the success last year that the Chamber experienced partnering with Sales and Marketing Executives of Cleveland to jointly sponsor
Educational events! The morning seminars are held the second Tuesday of each month! Please watch your e-mails and the Newsletter for future announcements of events.
We will continue to offer additional networking opportunities throughout the year for you to meet new contacts, make friends, do business and have fun!
Thank you for considering the Chamber of Commerce as your primary resource for business development, we look forward to seeing you at one of our events.
Kind Regards,
Tom G Thacker II

Chamber Partnership with CEA Will Help You Save Money
The Cuyahoga Valley Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that it has partnered with Community Energy Advisors (CEA) to educate and empower Chamber Members to take control of their energy costs. The Chamber Energy Aggregation Program is designed to provide a full suite of energy management services to Members.
In today's volatile energy market there are plentiful opportunities to shop for a better rate. CEA utilizes a competitive bid process to ensure Chamber Members receive the best rate. In addition, they specialize in the analysis of the entire bill to deliver savings and ROI from the utility side as well.
All Chamber Members may request a free assessment of their utility bills to determine where savings opportunities exist, even if you are in an existing supply contract. Enrollment is simple. Email or fax us all pages of your most recent month's electric and natural gas bills. If it is determined that the program can provide you with a more competitive market rate, you will be given an authorization form that will enable you to be enrolled in the program.
To request your free assessment and to take control of your energy costs today, just send a copy of all pages of your most recent electric and natural gas bills to Sarah Margelowsky at chamberenergy@ceateam.com or fax to 330-721-8111. One of our trusted energy advisors will then contact you to discuss your potential savings opportunities. For more information, please visit http://ceateam-chamberenergy.com/.
Chamber Launches Innovative Export Program
The Cuyahoga Valley Chamber of Commerce is boosting its international trade services by offering companies involved in export and global trade innovative export documentation and compliance solution.
eCertify is a user-friendly, online solution which transforms the costly, time-consuming paper-based process for stamping and signing of paper-based Certificates of Origin into a streamlined electronic system.
"eCertify enables our Chamber to provide exporters and freight forwarders with faster turnaround times, with immediate acceptance or rejection notifications. Importantly, online processing cuts out the use of couriers to shuttle Certificates and associated trade documents to and from our chamber and so reduces their costs," said April Acuña, The Cuyahoga Valley Chamber Executive Director.
A Certificate of Origin is an important trade document that identifies the origin of goods being exported. It is required by customs authorities to validate the origin of goods being imported and acts as one of the key bases for applying tariff rates.
Chambers of Commerce are recognized worldwide as the official body and key agent in the stamping and signing, certification, of Certificates of Origin.
"Historically, businesses have had to deliver paper documents, personally or by courier, to the chamber for certification. As you can imagine, this is a costly and time consuming process," Ms. Acuña said. Businesses that participate in the electronic program can keep better track of records, she said. "They can login into the application and view all the transactions that have taken place, which is preferable to searching through boxes of paperwork" she said.

RECAP OF SPRING EVENTS
The Current and Future State of the Economy
On September 21st, The Cuyahoga Valley Chamber of Commerce kicked off our programming with The Current and Future State of the Economy luncheon at the Holiday Inn. Andrew R. Thomas, Ph.D, Professor of Marketing and International Business at the University of Akron and Robert Schmidt, Senior Growth & Innovation Advisor at MAGNET presented an informative and interactive look at the economy.
Our presenters discussed the 5 critical areas impacting the economy both domestically and globally, including natural gas resources and manufacturing updates. The luncheon was well received and well attended. Thank you to our luncheon sponsor, Brad Sussman Insurance, LTD, we appreciate your support.
The Annual Picnic
Last week, The Cuyahoga Valley Chamber of Commerce hosted their Annual Picnic at beautiful Klima Gardens in Cuyahoga Heights. In an effort to provide our members with more networking time, this was strictly a networking luncheon, but with a Clambake theme.
Nothing like a Clambake to put you in a 'Fall' mood, but the weather was not at all Fall like - it was beautiful 80 degree afternoon, a wonderful October surprise!
Thank you to our luncheon and dessert sponsor, The Cuyahoga Valley Career Center. Congratulations on celebrating your 45th Anniversary. Also, we would like to extend a thank you to Mayor Bacci and the Village of Cuyahoga Heights for donating the perfect picnic location!
